Wanderlust. Yep, I have it and I have it bad.

wan·der·lust
ˈwändərˌləst/
noun

A very strong or irresistible impulse to travel.

Where did I get a bad case of wanderlust? I am guessing it was growing up with parents that took me traveling and I am forever grateful. We traveled to Europe numerous summers to see family and explore, weekend and day trips were plenty and we even drove across the good old USA in jeep with Levi denim interior! Some of the best memories I have as a child were born from these adventures. Seeing falling snow for the first time in Yellowstone National Park, looking for Nessie on the banks of Loch Ness, buying Smurfs with pocket change my Oma gave me in Berlin, Wandering the flea markets with my dad looking for treasures to buy with my saved money. So many of these memories shaped who I am today. Selling Garlic at my families fruit and veg stalls in Germany only to spend the money I earned a couple of stalls down on the most delicious beef shish kabobs….I was a foodie jr even at the age of 7! Roaming the check Point Charlie museum and the Egyptian museums in Berlin by myself as a child, soaking in all of the history, the horror and mummies kickstarted my fascination of all things macabre and scary. Hunting thru a barn somewhere in middle America full of antiques and bric a brac, looking for just the right old hardback book or strange old toy to add to my collection…. and if you know me at all, you know I am a collector! Food, all things weird and unusual, collecting are all part of the experiences I had traveling as a child and they continue to be a theme in my travels as an adult….

Because that’s what it’s about…. the EXPERIENCE. The experiences make the memories that last forever!

I am lucky enough to have a husband who agrees with me on the importance of the experience and loves to travel as much as I do. When he can’t go or would rather sit one out he encourages me to wander off with out him! I also have an amazing business and staff that allow me the gift of time and means to travel and for that I am truly grateful! I can’t forget my group of rad friends who I wrangle into a crazy adventure or two, without them life would be so much more boring! So my wanderlust continues…. I have a lot to catch you up on and a lot more to share with you in the future. I hope this blog will inspire the wanderlust in you!

Shaka and happy travels,

Heidi
